|Rescue Me ID: 16-11-15-00286Autumn Joy (female)|
" The Carolina Dog is one of the very few breeds existing today that is truly a primitive dog, a result of natural selection for survival in nature, and not of selective breeding. Wild specimens are still known, so this is not a completely domesticated canine. This dog that has survived as a free living animal in the swamps, savannahs, and forests of South Carolina and Georgia for thousands of years has also proven to be highly adaptable and amenable to domestication, and an excellent pet. Many dogs are known to be extremely shy around people and dislike a lot of handling unless socialized at a very young age. With proper socialization, they are proven to be loyal companion dogs. Many of the characteristics of the natural dog that are predominant in the Carolina Dog contribute to his ability to adjust well to being a loving pet. The Carolina Dog enjoys and needs to be part of a pack, and thus integrates very well into the family framework. He is a gentle, social dog, and bonds very well with children, enjoying play and activities with them. The Carolina Dog is very clean by nature and is easy to housebreak. He is intelligent and responsive and learns easily and is not destructive."....well that is a bit of information we garnered from a google search, quite interesting given that Autumn does have the look and also several of the characteristics of a Carolina dog, but is it still truly a guess, we can not guarantee her breed. She is a fantastic girl, so incredibly smart, quiet, sweet and playful. She is a bit shy around men(lives with 2 of them in this foster home) and is just a tad cautious. With women she is engaging, silly, and loving. Autumn is just a year old, about 35 pounds and will do well in a dog savvy home that can work on her shyness. Please email Kristine, email@example.com. Her adoption fee is $250. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-15-00176Rocky (male)|
Rocky, Right in photo, was rescued with his mother, on the left in the picture, and 3 siblings. Mom appears to be Shepherd collie. there was a purebred looking male shepherd on the property we were told was the father, but he doesn't look like he has a purebred shepherd father. Rocky is the only one with a curly tail. He is very sweet, with a goofy personality. They came from a terrible situation and Rocky adjusted the fastest to the fact we wouldn't hurt him. All the dogs from this residence are terrified of small children but have adjusted pretty well to teens or adults. He is very shy until he knows someone. He loves attention! He has learned to walk on a leash fairly well, is crate trained. About 10 to 11 months old, UTD vaccination, neutered and on heartworm preventative. Mom has been adopted and they couldn't be happier with her. A current or past vet you have used for pets number is required for us to call for a reference prior to adoption. We have many other rescued dogs available also to choose from. Contract on adoption. Brighton IL. Transport option may be available. (Less)

Basenji Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Basenji is a playful, charming, energetic breed. They make excellent family pets but do best with older children. Basenjis can live in an apartment but need lots of daily exercise and long walks. A Basenji likes to chew and should be given toys and attention or it will get into trouble. Basenjis do not do well with cats and other pets beside dogs.
