Rescue Me ID: 17-01-19-00607Twiggy (female)

Basenji Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am so happy to be a brand new K-9 Angel, off the streets, and with a foster family. Do you know what they had for me my first night: a bowl full of food, a soft bed, and my own toy! I am a very sweet girl. I know to go potty outside and I was completely quiet my first night sleeping in my crate. It's nice to know I have a safe place. I get along fine with my foster brother who is 70 p ounds. Sometimes he wants to play rough, but I'd rather snuggle with my humans on the sofa. They also have these things called cats here. I barked at them at first, but when my foster mom told me to hush I did and then left them alone. I think we'll all get ... (Read More)along fine. I walk nicely on the leash and like seeing the neighborhood. I'd be fine with other pets (cats included) but I'd also be a perfect 'one and only.' Twiggy is brand new and we will update as we get to know her more. Twiggy is a Female Basenji/Chihuahua Mix that we estimate to be born around January 18, 2016 and weighs 14 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Thank you! Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00301Gia (female)

Basenji Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Gia is an adorable mixed breed puppy. What breed you ask? Well, we are not quite sure, but we assume she may be part Basenji and maybe part Pharaoh Hound. What we do know, she is 100% lovable. She was born around the end of June 2016 and is now 5-6 months old and weighs 20 lbs. Poor Gia was found as a young puppy at only 3 month old, abandoned in the Houston Corridor in less than ideal conditions. She had a badly injured leg, was mostly hairless and itchy skin from mange, hungry and quite afraid of people. Understandably, she is a bit shy around new people, but warms up to dogs right away and has learned to appreciate cuddles from her ... (Read More)foster parents. Here is what her foster mom had to say about Gia: 'She is still pretty shy around people - she will come up to me and let me pet her and is excited to see me when we let her out of the kennel, but if we walk up to her she will run away and hide. She is pretty terrified on a leash, but we are working on walking her with one of our dogs and she is getting a bit better. I took her to the dog park today and had to carry her to and from the car, but inside the park she had a blast. Her tail was up and wagging the whole time and she loved the couple of dogs that came while we were there. Even though she is shy around people she LOVES dogs. Every time she gets let out of the kennel she has to lick all three of our dogs to say hello, and she loves playing with them. Because of her personality, I think she would do best in a home with at least one other dog, and with people that understand that she is shy and are willing to give her time to warm up to them. I'm a little hesitant about young kids because of how skittish she is, if they didn't understand that and chased her around I think she wouldn't like it. But if she was in a home with a young couple who eventually had kids, I think she would be fine if she had the time to adjust to the people first and then the baby whenever it comes.' Gia is quick to learn new tricks - she already knows how to come, sit, and is kennel trained. She is working on remembering to go outside to potty. Each day, Gia is feeling a little better and gains more confidence. Her painful itchy skin is a thing of the past, her coat is re-growing nicely, her little leg doesn't hurt anymore and she feels more and more comfortable around her foster parents. Gia is finally enjoying puppyhood. Just like it was always supposed to be. Now, we just need to find Gia a family with other dog siblings; A family, who understands that Gia was quite traumatized from being left behind to fend for herself and possibly encountered people that weren't very kind to her; A family that has the time and patience to let her come out of her shell and bond with her. Is that family you? This will be Gia's very first Christmas and even if she won't admit it, she cannot wait to meet you and hopefully unpack all of her Christmas presents in her very own home. **Gia is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas. She is not yet spayed and only available for adoption locally. Once she has received surgery she will be available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Ground transportation to Colorado is available for $75, and several locations in the northeastern US for $185. We are a street dog rescue in Houston, Texas seeking to place rescued dogs in loving homes across the US and Canada. Our region has more homeless animals than homes, so we look outside of our area for adopters. Our puppy adoption fee of $250 covers spay/neuter, microchip and current vaccines. Please apply to foster or adopt online at www.corridorrescue.org. Direct inquiries to: adopt@corridorrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued former street dog for your next family member! Basenji Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bunker is a cute 2 year old Chihuahua/Basenji mix (we think) that hasn't been dealt the best circumstances in life so far. You see, Bunker had a family, but one day he found himself being turned into a shelter. Luckily for Bunker, a good samaritan stepped in and now Bunker is a K-9 Angel! Bunker is super sweet and very playful! He likes other dogs and even loves the kittie cats too. He walks well on a leash and has good house manners. Bunker's previous family kept him locked in a crate outside but he's really gotten the hang of this whole potty training thing! He still does great in his crate and goes in willingly when his foster mom asks ... (Read More)him to. Bunker is a sweet little boy that is looking for a wonderful, loving forever family. Rescue Me ID: 16-08-30-00235Efrain (male)

Basenji Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Efrain is my name, being cute is my game! I mean, I'm shy, so I'm not one to brag, but look at my ears and how I sleep with my tongue out (always!). I guess I sleep hard like this because I spend my days with other dogs, which I love, and I play and play and play. I really enjoy dogs, and am careful to be respectful and gentle in my play. I don't steal toys or food. I follow other dogs around my foster mom's house and learn from them (don't tell her little guy, but I think I'm smarter than he is, I've been sitting for my treats and crating up on command). My foster mom says I've been such a good boy. I am potty trained, I figured out out ... (Read More)to go to the back door and let her know I need to go out. I'm still a baby and little, so I do need to go out often, so be prepared! Now, I have to admit, I don't love being in a crate by myself - if I can see people or other dogs I'm ok with it (my foster brother is crated next to me), but otherwise I worry I might be missing out on some fun and so I'll cry for a bit in my crate, hoping you'll invite me to the party! At night I've proved that I can be left out of the crate and I sleep for 8+ hours without getting into trouble or having any accidents. Speaking of being shy, I really am. I LOVE other dogs, but need time to get to love the humans - but if I have a dog brother or sister, and they trust their human, then after some time, so will I. It could take several days, so I hope you will be patient with me because in the end I'll sneak up on you for cuddles and it will be so great! Efrain is thought to be a Basenji mix, and his estimated date of birth is 6/25/16. As of 1/5/17, he weighs 35 pounds, and will probably get up to 55ish pounds. . PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events.
